Make Your Own Teddy Bear: Everything You Need to Create Your Very Own Bear (A Running Press Miniature Kit)
Published in Paperback by Running Press (March, 1995)
Average review score:

*~*~ADORABLE BEAR!!!~*~*I had lots of fun with this kit. The instructions in the book are clear and simple (and fast, i finished mine in a day). And most importantly, the finale bear is the cutest; however, i never expected to be that small. This kit teaches one to make a small yellow bear with movable jointed limbs. Overall, this kit and book is very complete and great for rainy days!
A very good book for someone who does not sew much. This is excellent. Very detailed instructions, and good graphics make it easy for anyone to make a really cute bear:)
This is a wonderful kit!!!Although I'm still in the process of making my bear, I'd like to leave my comments now. So far, this has been a *great* kit and I'm sure it will continue to be fun. It really is quite simple, and it looks like the bear will be quite adorable!! I very much recommend it!!

Milo's Hat Trick
Published in Hardcover by Hyperion Press (May, 2001)
Average review score:

terrific funA wonderful tale about a down-on-his-luck magician who meets an amazing bear. The story is delightful and funny-even for parents. We love the illustrations, the bears telling eyes, the magician's expressions. We have shared this book with many friends.
A book of fun for childrenChildren should enjoy this funny and exciting story, written and drawn by the creator of "Dmitri The Astronaut." Milo is a big city magician who can't seem to do hat tricks correctly. He meets a bear in the woods that volunteers to pop out of Milo's hat at magic shows. When the gets lost in New York City, Milo must find him, or his show booking will meet with cancellation.
The story is engaging, and Agee's artwork augments it nicely. He draws in straight, graphite pencils that give dimension and depth to his work. Shapes are distorted to lend an air of authenticity that this story takes place in a large city. Lightly rendered complementary pencils and watercolors give the story an approachable feel. The text is a bit too lengthy for preschool programming, but children will find the story irresistible when read to in the lap of a parent.

A Little Magic for Everyone.....Milo is a terrible magician. None of his tricks work, he can't even pull a rabbit out of his hat and Mr Popovich, the theater manager, is giving him just one more chance to get it right or he's through. So off Milo goes to the woods, with a carrot on a stick, looking for a rabbit. He doesn't find a rabbit, but he does find a very friendly bear who is willing to join the act and help him out. As Milo watches, the bear jumps up and dives into the hat, disappearing completely. "You just pretend your bones are made of rubber". After several hilarious mishaps, Milo and the bear finally get back to the theater just in time for the show..... Jon Agee has authored a delightful picture book that is sure to keep youngsters giggling and laughing to the end, as they enjoy the antics of this unusual dynamic duo. His clever, witty, humorous text is only outdone by his marvelous large and expressive cartoon-like artwork that will charm children and adults, alike. Perfect for kids 4-8, Milo's Hat Trick is a winner and one of this summer's best new books.

A GREAT CHRISTMAS GIFT!!!What a delightful book! The illustrations leap out & sweep you up into Willowbe woods along with the characters. It encourages children to tell about their fears & makes them realize that it's ok to have fears. I hope this book finds it's way to many homes this holiday season!
A Must Read for Children of All AgesThis book is destined to become a family treasure, a favorite for children of all ages. The story and illustrations are clever, and are especially comforting to those who are afraid of the dark (that's almost everybody). The Moon in My Room is a wonderful gift, and will no doubt be worn ragged from many, many bedtime readings. This is a rare find for which we are thrilled to have stumbled upon. One Bear One Dog
Published in Hardcover by Ragged Bear US (September, 2002)

Great book for toddlersA simple little book, that seems like fun. What really sold me is that my daughter started 'reading' the book to us, after having it read to her a few times. Plus, she has so much fun reading this book. After deciding this was the perfect book, and that we should get a copy for ourselves as well as some extras for gifts, I was surprised to find it out of print. For a two or three year old, this strikes me as a classic book that should never go out of print!
One Bear, One Dog -- Great Book!I bought this book for my son when he was 4 months old. It is a book that is great for all ages. The illustrations are wonderful.
Simple, catchy text for youngsters with surprise at the endMy daughter (2 years) loves this book. She can recite the book from cover to cover and delights in finding new words to describe the lively animals. She never gets enough of the surprise at the end and always wants to read the book again so that she can look at herself in the mirror. An excellent choice to start youngsters on their reading journey.

Popcorn (Parents)
Published in Library Binding by E P Dutton (October, 1979)
Average review score:

This is a wonderful book for children and adults alike!I haven't even seen the book for twenty years or more, but this morning I woke up with the idea that Popcorn, by Frank Asch, would be perfect for trick-or-treaters this Halloween. (I'm always looking for an alternative to candy.) Popcorn, with all of its costumed bears and the house that fills with popcorn, was my favorite book for years. You can ask my mother. I am so sorry to hear that it is out of print.
One of my daughter's favorite booksI bought this engaging book two years ago at a neighborhood garage sale for a mere ten cents and it immediately became one of my nearly three year old's favorite books. She has three older siblings and we have read this book to her at least a hundred times! I am sorry to hear it is out-of-print because any child anywhere would enjoy it. Hey, I love the book as well and I'm a jaded adult. The book teems with creativity and imagination and very young and impressionable kids will wonder if popcorn would really fill up an entire house! The pictures are adorable and fun to. Look for the little inquisitve mouse on each page and the cat as well. A wonderful book. Frank Asch has done it again. I'd put my book up for auction but I can't bear to part with it. Maybe in 10 years or so....
the popcorn storyI like this book because it deals with something that kids will understand. his parents leave for a party so the kid bear has a party of his own. every guest brought popcorn and he decices to fix it all and it fills up the house with popcorn. They eat all the popcorn and clean the house so his perents never know what happened. his parents came home and they brought him some popcorn. This is a great story for kids around the halloween time

Rembrandt's Hat
Published in Hardcover by Houghton Mifflin Co (26 March, 2002)
Average review score:

Finding the Perfect Hat....."On what began as a fine day, a bear named Rembrandt lost his hat. He had stopped in the park to watch a clown juggle eggs, and while he was watching, a gust of wind snagged the tip of his hat and carried it away, just like that..." A good day turned suddenly bad, and even with the help of a well-meaning bird, cat, and rabbit, poor Rembrandt can't find the right replacement for his much loved and prized possession..... Susan Blackaby and Mary Newell DePalma have authored a simple, little magical tale, full of endearing characters and hats of every shape, size, and color. Ms Blackaby's gentle text, with its humorous dialogue, poses the problem. But it's Ms DePalma's vibrant and engaging illustrations that really tell the story and steal the show, and little ones will enjoy all the marvelous, expressive details found in each picture. With its satisfying, happily-ever-after ending, Rembrandt's Hat is perfect for youngsters 4-8, and a sweet lesson in patience and perseverance that shouldn't be missed
Adorable StoryI bought 2 copies of this book and took one to my grandchildren in Virginia. 6 yr. old Charlotte listened to me read it and on each page asked me which hat I liked best. Two weeks later SHE read it to ME, needing help with only a few words.....again we chose which had we liked best on each page. Suzie is a very talented writer with a wonderful sense of humor! Children (and grandmothers) will live this!

The Search for the Right Hat, and So Much MoreMy younger daughter is now 11 years old, so the nightly bedtime stories that I read to her for years are mostly a thing of the past, but not completely. Sometimes I'll stumble upon a children's book that is especially noteworthy, both for the story content and the illustrations, and "Rembrandt's Hat" is definitely one of those. Rembrandt himself is a sweet and unassuming bear, with gentle eyes. Losing his hat, and struggling find the right replacement, is a simple predicament that we can all relate to. His quirky animal friends all offer sincere and humorously inadequte suggestions, until Rembrandt himself solves the dilemma. Blackaby's dialogue is smart, and DePalma's illustrations will have you chuckling. We especially got a kick out of the way DePalma included little fragments of words, maps and even Chinese kanji characters on every page, with no obvious rhyme or reason behind them. "Rembrandt's Hat" is a delightful read for kids and parents alike. We give it an enthusiastic two thumbs up.

SAFARI: My Trip to Africa
Published in Spiral-bound by Traveling Bear Press ()
Average review score:

Beautiful and CleverThis delightful book tells the story of the bear Reggie, who travels to Africa for a safari with his owner. His handwritten account records everything he sees in a journal/scrapbook format that is accompanied by beautiful illustrations. A wonderful book for any age. Also check out the follow up, Journey Up the Nile.
A must for those who have been or dream of going on SafariI have been on a safari with each of my daughters and am going on another with my son, his wife and 3 young grands this summer. Mailed them Reggie's book which was so beguiling I had to get another copy for my daughters to share with me. Needless to say I love the East African experience and this book gives some useful information in a fun, easily accessible and creative way.
This book is great for all ages!I was apprehensive that a book ostensibly written by a teddy bear would get sneers from my teen aged son, however, despite a few pages of cuteness at the start, the book was so well done in art work and content, and mirrored our own safari experiences so well, that Nick loved it. He even, abeit a bit sheepishly, liked the teddy bear humor. If this book succeeds so well with a cynical teen, it should work for everyone. Read this book before you go to East Africa, then re-read it (and get a little misty-eyed) after you return.

The Snow Bear
Published in Hardcover by Dutton Books (September, 2001)
Average review score:

a great sleepytime bookThis is one of those wonderful books that you can read to your child at bedtime when they just want to hear the sound of your voice. there is nothing too exciting going on, you can just have your child close their eyes, you can stroke their hair, and read this sweet story. OR, during the day, you can animate all of the animals' voices and have the child touch the great tactile pages. It is a great book!
An attention getterMy 16 month old grandson loves this book. Easy reading and the pictures of the animals are lovely illustrated. I have purchased another one for a baby shower gift.
ExquisiteThis book is fantastic. The illustrations are beyond beautiful, and the story is so cute.
This book tells the story of a little polar bear cub searching for his mother. He gets all of his animal friends, including a fox, rabbit, owl, duck, and more to help him build a mother out of snow. Soon all of his friends have to go home and he is alone, but in the end his mother finds him and he's happy again.
This is an adorable book, and a must read, even if it's only for the illustrations.

Snug
Published in School & Library Binding by Simon & Schuster (Juv) (May, 1998)
Average review score:

Snuggly fun for the very young! This endearing and exuberant book is perfect for the read-aloud crowd. As a parent of a toddler, I can empathize with mama bear's frustrations and enduring patience; my son revels in Snug's unquenchable curiosity, imagination, and passion for living. As a former preschool teacher, I can see how this book would lend itself well to dramatic and fun classroom readings. It also quietly reaffirms the bond between a mother and her child. The illustrations are charming, bold and leaping with enthusiasm; their textural quality fills them with kid-appeal.
A heartwarming tale about a bear and his mom.My granddaughter loves Snug. A little actress, she acts out Snug's part and does his lines whenever they fit into the conversation. For instance, when her mom calls her for dinner, the little dear says, with a very sweet expression: "I'd rather eat beetles!" It's also the kind of story a tired mom can relate to on a busy, frustrating day.
My son loves Snug for its humor, love and adventure! Our three year old needs at least one reading of Snug each day. He identifies with the bear cub's mischief and usually ends up in a rumbly tickle fest with Mom or Dad at the end of the story. He even wants to talk about real bears and how they spend their days. It's a great story for little naturalists in training!

Mooncake
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 2001)
Average review score:

This is a great book.As all parents know, you read the same books to your kids over and over again. Some books drive me crazy, especially those movie tie-in books from Disney - ugh. But there are a few, like Mooncake, that I personally enjoy each time I read it. My kids love it too.
EXCELLENT BOOK FOR ANY AGEEven though this book was written for younger kids, my 8 and 10 year-old girls love this book! My ten year-old loved the idea of a bear wishing to go to the moon so he could take a bite out of it. We have reading time everynight and Asch's book is still popular with them. I plan to buy more books by Asch...he rates a definite 5 stars!
My son knows all the words! This book is a toddler's delight. The charming illustrations go beautifully with the story of how a confused bear travels to the "moon" and back again. Bear wonders what the moon tastes like and builds a rocket ship. However the construction goes late into the fall, and you can guess what happens when Bear climbs into the rocket ship and begins his countdown. As my 20 month old son says, "zzzzz". Bear wakes up because the wind starts to blow, and never having been outside in winter, he believes his dream has come true and he's on the moon.
When we read this book, my son likes to fill in the words he knows. He can't read, but he seems to know the whole story and can fill in more and more every day. This is a great book for toddlers, preschoolers and their parents!
